Take Me Out To The Ballgame - Matty & Ben Style

Look at Matty's smile....that sort of says it all! For me, it's not so much about the Mets as it is about being able to sit with this boy who could never ever contemplate something like this a few years ago.

From a sensory integration perspective, a stadium with 30,000 is the LAST place to take a child with issues...it's super loud, it's FULL of people, there are bright lights everywhere...the potential for meltdown is immense.

How do I know? I can't even count the number of times we took Matty places like this, and didn't even make it inside because usually he threw-up or had a melt down in the parking lot.

Things only changed the more we did it....amusement parks, family functions, the movies, live shows, the beach, sporting events. Now, Matty is the king of the ballpark! He cheers loudly (REALLY LOUDLY) for the Mets, he claps, jumps up when appropriate, and thinks he's drinking "beers." For me, it was quite a pleasure watching my son enjoy a baseball game.

Now Ben....is a WHOLE different animal. He THRIVES on the energy, chaos, noise, etc...so a ballpark makes him want to explore and see it all....this picture kind of sums up his time there

He was up/down the whole time after a good nap in the car to Shea Stadium. He ate, drank, kept his pants "dwry" (HUGE SUCCESS) the whole time and was even awake when we got home at 11pm!
A good time for the boys....we have truly come so far! The Mets lost....but it was still a great time!
Look for Matty's Camp Robin Talent Show review and pictures later today!

How fun! So glad it's getting easier -- mine will do crowds for a while...but we usually don't last an entire event. They are SOOO cute :)
